May 31, 2023 - Perhaps my expectations were too high, as the wine was good, but not great. It stayed tight with a little alcohol burn. It lacked the big fruit sensation of the 2008 OVID or 2001 Hundred Acre we also drank.

July 17, 2022 - Annual BYO Pre-Dinner (mostly mature Bordeauxs): The highlight here is the elegance an sensuality but at the same time the wine is a bit too sweet. The good thing is, that the structural frame should allow for further ageing which should improve the balance with more tertiary aromas emerging and keeping the sweet fruit in check. Some pts deducted for a slight hint of alcohol showing on the finish. 93 pts.

TN: Expressive, concentrated wine with sweet round red fruit, some dark fruit, herbs and a touch minerality. But the fruit, while very precise, seductive and sensual, still a bit too dominating. Round and harmonious, velevety tannins, creamy texture, good acidity keeping it fairly light and very elegant. And just a touch of alcohol on the finish.

Decanting: Not decanted, doesn’t seem to need much decanting.

July 1, 2022 - Beautifully aged with supple dried leaves, blue berries, black and red currant, black coffee and a fine layer of mint. Youthful and fresh acidity with a great tannic structure. A bit too straight-forward for a higher score, but very pleased to have tasted a pristine bottle of the 2001 just a couple of weeks of having opened a beef juice bottle.

June 19, 2022 - Blind tasting lunch. This bottle showed some oxidation, so it probably is not representative. NR

June 18, 2022 - Double-decanted. Too much beef juice from the get-go. While this was improving somewhat in the glass adding sweet spice accents and a bit of fruit, this was already over-mature and no longer any fun. The acidity was fresh enough though and there was a bitter sense of sweet fruit on the palate and one person in the group of six did actually enjoy this. Fortunately, I ended up having another bottle just a couple of weeks later which was pristine, hence seems to have been a bottle issue above anything else.
