August 4, 2020 - A private dinner (Restaurant Zoldering, Amsterdam, NL): ID 215027, “received its cork spring 2015”, released 2018. An individual batch of 200 (!) bottles. Original disgorgement, aged in the cellars at Krug until release, recorked in 2015. Pale golden colour, youthful for age, gentle but perfectly lively mousse; the most amazing nose, fresh and incredibly complex, so layered and deep and fragrant, rich but pure and precise, white walnuts and spiced honey and citrus fruit and flowers, only a hint of mushroom - pointless to offer individual descriptors; the palate has the elegant, minerally core of the terroir and the bright and lively acidity of the vintage, wonderful seamless freshness at 32 years of age, very youthful, gentle bitters; crème patissière on the complete, very long and layered finish that keeps on going. An effortless masterpiece with decades ahead of it.

June 27, 2020 - Terrifically complex nose of orange marmalade, caramel, poached pear, vanilla, spice, lemon curd and red apple married to a deep gold color, almost cider-like.

Great balance on the palate, with much more citrus and acidity than the nose might suggest, pulling off the trick of simultaneously being clean and fresh but also having superb breadth and depth. One of those truly great “older” champagnes where it’s better than you might have imagined and you feel lucky to have caught it at such a moment.

June 7, 2020 - Yellow color with a bouquet and flavor of dried apples, toast, citrus, and a hint of dilute balsamic vinegar. Fleeting tiny bubbles. Good balance, depth and nuance, with a long finish. Similar to the prior bottle and wonderful wine for my birthday. Krug seldom disappoints.

May 23, 2020 - Rich but dusty, this bottle was showing some age.
