August 18, 2019 - Pastrami day (Chicago, IL): The riper vintages are the best for these wines -- it gives them more heft than they would otherwise have. This shows a little bit of opulent sweet fruit, and it's delicious when coupled with the minerality and acid here. The mousse is a touch creamy, but there's enough acidity to handle that. A really excellent bottle of Special Club.

June 2, 2019 - Vinetasters: Special Clubs (Skokie, IL): Served double blind. Slightly dumb nose, though there are some green apple gummy candy elements here. The palate has a fantastic richness, but there's also a bit of funk here that I think detracts from an overall fantastic wine. Very nicely balanced, with some green spices (cardamom?) that add further complexity. My 1st, group's 5th.

September 21, 2018 - Toast, butterscotch and apple on the nose. Apple danish dominates the palate. Lemon. Fine mousse. Medium high acid levels. Nice finish.
