November 29, 2021 - Una bomba de fruta straight outa Jumilla! Lush, hedonistic, firing on all cylinders after 15 years. Great value and just really enjoyable. Reminds me of a Spanish Bevan (and I very much mean that as a compliment). Dope juice.

October 2, 2021 - So impressed at this wine's longevity. It seems almost like a two-year old wine, but it's in fact 15. Maybe I would have liked to see some ageing in fact, but my guess is that this will just go on and on for years with this huge power and freshness. No bad thing. In appearance, it's as clean and dark - almost blue - as it would have been on release. The fragrance is immediate as well - soaring aromas of blackberry jam, smoked bacon, tobacco, and cinnamon. Big on the palate, but not at all astringent - the tannins are silky smooth. Elegantly integrated - difficult for a wine of this profile, which typically starts angular, alcoholic and abrasive. It's ageing by softening, but not yet developing tertiary flavours or aromas. Delicious and exciting.

April 10, 2021 - Filtered and decanted for about an hour, drank over about 2 hrs, absolutely delicious! Plum, dark fruit, leather, vanilla, tobacco, hints of almonds and slightly herbaceous notes, firm acidity but very mellow and well integrated, medium-long finish. So glad we waited to drink this!

January 17, 2021 - Slow ox'ed for 5 hours. This wine is real crowd pleaser, a cross between a cherry cheesecake and a blueberry Pop-Tart. Still showy after all these years, but mellow enough and possessing just the right amount of acidity to cut through a grilled strip steak. Very enjoyable.

    December 1, 2020 - Color: ruby
    Nose: blackberry, cherry, smoke, herbs
Taste: blackberry, vanilla, plum, earth, herbs
This is in a wonderful spot now with well integrated fruit and secondary flavors. Nice round lingering tannins. This is excellent now and has a while to go.

November 14, 2020 - Beautiful bouquet with dark plums, licorice and chocolate . On the palate a concentrated wine with licorice, hints of menthol, good acidity and round tannin. Mature and still powerful enough for a few more years.

October 11, 2020 - P'al Pilar Sale lo Mejor ... Un Gigante y un Cabezón(udo); 10/9/2020-10/12/2020 (Alicante - España): Initially slate on the nose that little by little turns into sweet carob and balsamic notes that reminded some of eucalyptus and me of coffee and milk chocolate.
In the mouth its acidity reminds of its already lost youth with a silky texture. Still, in its style, a recognizable Jumilla and the reason why to lay them down.
