March 2, 2017 - Nice smooth merlot, past its prime , some bricking
January 26, 2016 - Leather, tobacco, blackberries, and white pepper make up the nose of the wine. Lots of tannins on the mouth. Needs a healthy lead time decanting before serving. It is surprising the wine is not more mellow, given the '05 vintage. It will be interesting to see how my two remaining bottles fare with a few more years in the cellar.
December 20, 2015 - Wine was very full bodied and ready to be drunk. Full bodied and chewy. Could have blind tasted as a Cabernet. We enjoyed it with a steak dinner and it was very much up to the strong steak flavors. Wonderful wine.
May 28, 2015 - Very rank smell and sour taste. Down the drain.
March 29, 2015 - End of useful life. Tasted ok but just.
March 28, 2015 - Probably past its prime. My recollection is the 2005 was not a favorite early and have to say it didn't improve with age. The wine was nondescript and may have been fine as table wine with food. My first thought was that it was better than water but not much. No reason to keep this around.
March 10, 2015 - Wine is approaching end of useful life. I decanted but needed to let it decant for longer. After about 45 mins really opened up nicely.
August 6, 2014 - This merlot has a nose of graphite, cherries, white pepper. The tannins are pronounced and the finish is medium long.
June 21, 2014 - Completely agree -- this wine is on. I had it previously (3-4 years ago) and didn't think anything of it but its time to open. Enjoy
April 7, 2014 - This is an exceptional Merlot that's ready for consumption.
