June 4, 2023 - Tasted double blind. From the first sniff there was no doubt that this is a high class wine (and probably a Coche) with around 20 years of age. I’m a sucker for those Coche flint, matchstick, sesame aromas and hence I couldn’t get enough from this wine. Beside that one quality, it has obviously many others: high complexity, superb purity and definition, perfect density with a weightless texture and fell and an impeccable balance. This was a great bottle from start to finish.

TN: Intense, highly expressive nose with sesame, reduction, ripe orchard fruit, some crushed rocks. Great. Intoxicating. On the palate the wine shows the same intensity, the same power yet is so elegant and weightless. Sesame, matchstick, smoke, herbs, orchard fruit, a fine spine of lemony/citrusy notes, so much minerality. Wow. The weightlessness combined with the intensity is mind boggling. Superb satin-like texture and so much freshness Medium length probably but overall fantastic and so balanced.

    Decanting: No extensive decanting necessary.

April 1, 2021 - This bottle wasnt as complex and chiseled as the two bottles I had prior. The tension just wasn't there and the wine wasn't showing much else. I would drink up asap if this bottle is representative. same batch as prior bottles.

March 13, 2019 - Had over 2 nights, it showed more the second night....agree with others characterization: Matchstick with lemon and a nutty finish. It’s in a good place, not sure it improves from here

January 26, 2019 - Opened two bottles on same night... in a perfect place. great color light golden hue. showing slight age but not in a bad way. nose of flint, great minerality, almonds... just a delicious a bottle. 2nd bottle was even better... just more precise while still being rich. 94/95

December 29, 2018 - Served blind. Ultra flinty nose led me immediately to think Coche or 90’s Leflaive. Dark shimmering gold color. Lemon custard with almonds. Dense and delicious. Villages in name only, excellent.

August 31, 2018 - Coche-Dury Lunch with a La Tâche Kicker, Then More Après Lunch Wines (Elements Restaurant at the Sanctuary - Paradise Valley, AZ): Came across as very advanced when popped-and-poured, despite great density of fat orchard fruit and broad array of sweet spice. While this certainly freshened up and became enjoyable, it never achieved the level of pleasure anticipated.

May 25, 2018 - Served blind, the nose was crazy, more like a great red Burg than white, with loads of cinnamon and allspice. The palate was intense, and there was notable oak on the finish but it was well integrated and added to the complexity here. Best white wine of the night.

November 23, 2016 - Again much better and fresher than the last bottle, with much more weight and intensity than the normal village. Flinty popcorn nose, fresh citrus fruit, palate with toast and finish with butter and nuts. Awespiring village!

March 16, 2016 - Very good with toasted nut, popcorn, honey, breadcrumb and tropical fruit on the nose. Palate had layers, weight and intensity. This is 1-2 point higher than the meursault village side by side. I enjoyed the intensity and ripeness of this bottle. The aftertaste was also noticably better than the village.

October 19, 2012 - Mature and Maturing Bordeaux (Oslo): Very convincing nose, lime and a hint of nuts and cotton candy - but the wine seems very tight; minerals/crushed stones, lanolin, moderate acidity, fine length and finish.
