December 24, 2011 - medium weight juicy red, nice for current drinking. ***+

February 3, 2011 - Color: A little dull with an amber rim. Nose: Tight and sweet with notes of raspberry and burnt rubber. Taste: Definitely better than the color and nose would have you believe. The mouthfeel is solid and pretty velvety. Dark fruits like you would expect from a good Cab. The rubbery aspect from the nose translates on the palate to a pleasant chocolate-mocha-coffee. Finish: Smooth but a little abrupt. It really leaves behind the cocoa... like the last lingering taste of a milk chocolate bar. All in all, I might have had unrealistic expectations of this wine from everything I heard. It's a GOOD wine... but I'm not floored like others have been. One last note though... It's been in my decanter for a good 90 minutes now and the original rubber has dissipated quite a bit. It has left behind some earthy-mineral aromas that I find quite pleasing. I suggest ample breathing time before consumption.

October 19, 2010 - I reached for this when another wine disapointed. Paired with beef & starches. Required some air to round out the tannins, but salvaged a Tuesday evening dinner with the family with its moderately fruitful nose, smoothness on the palette, and an increasingly silkiness (with more time) on the finish. Looking forward to tasting again under better circumstances.

March 18, 2010 - Enjoyed the second bottle I bought the other night. Not what I remembered, much better than the first one.

I didn't take detailed notes but I remember a big vanilla cream dominating the palate which really worked for me. The tannins were also crazy smooth.

Not sure if it was the food pairing or what but this one really shone though on the second bottle.

March 6, 2010 - Pretty standard low end Washington Cab, on par with Columbia Crest. Good every day drinker, nothing special.

(K Vintners Chateau Smith Cabernet Sauvignon) #4; COLOR-dark; NOSE-a little tight; some chocolate covered cherry; no Oak; TASTE-very solid; nice fruit; young & vibrant, yet still very drinkable; no Oak which I like; a red radish component on the tail end; GV-82
