Overwhelming oak. Succulent fruit and well integrated on the palate. Long finish.
Blind with a 97 Harlan and the oak made the HA a dead give away
July 17, 2021 - Very Howell Mountain nose. Lush and refined red fruits, white chocolate mocha, and a whiff of EtOH that is not weak. Soft and silky. Luscious, dare I say designer fruit. Cherry soda palate. Lengthy finish of fig paste. This is obviously an excellent wine. However, the price tag is ridiculous. I guess it is just reflective of the California cult wine phenomenon.
July 11, 2021 - Peter’s bottle. Undrinkable to me although he and others liked it. Brutally over extracted, bitter and pruney. This is what happens to what could be a fruity flavor when it tastes like it was simmered on a barbecue grill for many hours. Sour prunes, road tar and coarse tannins complete the ugly picture. Yet if you drink enough to dull your senses you can actually swallow it and even keep it down.
May 5, 2021 - Another delicious bottle from Hundred Acre. Decanted for 2.5h and it drank beautifully - no need to cellar it longer but could if you’re not ready to drink it. I’d rate it a 99 - it was very very good but it was lacking the unique standout flavor that you expect for a perfect 100.
December 27, 2020 - Popped for 2 hours then drunk.
Nice cherry, and cedar, tannins are still quite strong and gripping. Some tobacco and hint of vanilla on the palette. Good wine, but high price tag.
August 1, 2020 - This was richer than the 2005 and 2007, which I found more pleasing, yet the long, smooth finish remained. Great wine drinking beautifully now.

November 2, 2019 - From magnum. Aromas of blackberry, plum, wild cherry, lead pencil and currant. Flavors of plum, blackberry, black cherry, currant and touch of iron. Ends with a 45-50 second finish with blackberry and currant notes. This is a fabulous wine that is tasting quite young. Pretty sure this is drinking at its peak.
March 30, 2019 - Absolutely incredible wine from an spectacular cult producer. This was not your typical jammy California Cab fruit bomb. This wine had so many nuances, incredibly refined, light, color resembled pinot noir more than the inky purple cab is known for. Had an unexpected and assertive smoky nose and palate.
I let it breathe for about an hour in the bottle, was very tannic at first but with some air and time it opened up in a sublime wine. Long legs, long finish 30+seconds. I think it this bottle definitely has another 3-5yrs ahead of itself, but it is drinking incredibly well now.

Wow!!! This is plush, fruit forward and a great example of a modern Cali Cab. Cigar ash mid palette and cedar wood & tobacco finish.
