June 4, 2020 - Faded pale ruby with dark hues; fragrant nose of small forest berry fruits, some underbrush, hint of sweet tobacco; the plaate is very silky, smooth, juicy almost, still with fruit notes, tannins fully resolved, and a little sweet aspect from the tannins dropping out, quite impressive, very lovely, tertiary but also with that fruit blend going on. Really nice, almost need to ask if it is really a '64. But Dan Bailey's comment corroborates my impressions. (however, I just noticed the comment was from 15 years ago!...)
Yarom group outside at Locanda Veneta.

March 2, 2020 - Solid old Bordeaux. Layered and laid back.

March 6, 2019 - Haut Brion vs La Mission Haut Brion dinner with Bernard Burtschy (Taberna del Alabardero, Washington D.C.): Fully mature red fruit driven nose with strong sous bois. There is a hint of dirty damp cellar smell that prevents from being pure. This is a classic claret. Wishing to try a clean bottle one day.

    Dominant Fruit: Cherry
    Balance: 8
    Expressiveness: 8
    Complexity: 9
    Ripeness: 7
Purity: 5, only because the dirty smell
    Intensity: 7
    Silkiness: 8
    Precision: 7
    Acidity: 8
Tannins: 3, still showing a bit which is surprising
    Concentration: 7
    Maturity: 10
    Modern (Oak): 0
    Over Ripeness: 0
    Condition: 10

January 20, 2019 - Decanted, cork was solid but difficult to extract. Initial impression on the nose was woody, green pepper and similar on the palate; not very attractive. Improved after 2 hours or more but never reached what any of us expected. Fruit barely noticeable on the palate, seemed a bit thin and acidic.
    Maybe well past its prime?
