October 6, 2022 - It’s been nearly eleven years since I last checked in on this. What a difference time has made; currently drinking at peak. Given its age, I did not decant, but opened it about 30 minutes prior to enjoying with spaghetti and tomato based meat sauce. Deep garnet color, full bodied. Beautiful, pronounced aromatics and flavors of perfumed rose, pine tar, dried pine forest floor, camphor oil, dried bed berries, sour cherry, and savory plum. Acidity and tannin are noticeable, but the red fruits provide wonderful balance. Finishes very long and strong; the acidity in the wine complemented the acidity in the tomatoes, while the tannin complemented the meat and spices in the sauce. Early in the mature phase with enough fruit and structure to carry this for another 5-10 years. Excellent and very enjoyable.

May 15, 2022 - ~6 hour slow-ox. As classic as Nebbiolo gets -- lots of red cherries and plum, with licorice, dried florals and light asphalt notes. Silky texture with fairly rich and concentrated fruits even in this normale (label does not yet say Albe, though the artwork is the same as newer vintages). These should hold for a decade+ for pleasurable, charming drinking.

May 15, 2020 - Pop & pour. Tasted over a few hours. Still tannic, but beginning to soften. Lots of juicy cherries, tar, and licorice. Just reaching its best drinking window, I think. Should hold and may improve for at least another decade. 92-93.

June 11, 2018 - Suitcase bottle, purchased at Vajra years ago. Immediately heady and perfumed upon opening, strawberries and roses and all that good stuff. Delicious and fairly long. Oddly on the second day, it perhaps shut down a bit, with the earthy forest-floor tannins becoming more prominent, and perhaps even showing their relative youth. While it's not a particularly dense wine, it still has many years left in it as secondary notes are only barely peeking thru at this point.

June 25, 2016 - Very correct, but perhaps a bit boring.
