January 14, 2024 - We drank this right after opening, but it would have benefitted from some air, to soften its hard edges and warm its cold soul. This wasn't too old, but there was still a suggestion of mustiness.

February 15, 2015 - Just perfect. Slily smooth, everything just lined up as it should be. Did not decant, but I did let it breathe for 1-2 hours before dinner. I would have given it a higher score, but it did not have the depth of flavor to merit this.

September 15, 2012 - Classic Bordeaux. Not much more to say than that. Yes, it's a second wine (not always reliable), but the vintage shined through. I did not decant but let it breathe for about 1 hour or so. Improved a bit through the bottle, but mot dramatically. My guess is that it will not get much better over time, although I see no reason to panic.

(CHEVALIER DE LASCOMBES MARGAUX) #2; NOSE-big time, very attractive, chocolate, raspberry, hint of cinnamon, ripe cherries; TASTE-nice, well-structured Bordeaux, lot of fruit, solid in mid-palate, falls off on finish, dark cherry, grape taffy, hint of bark & oak, little light, a SOLID buy; GV-89+
