January 14, 2024 - We drank this right after opening, but it would have benefitted from some air, to soften its hard edges and warm its cold soul. This wasn't too old, but there was still a suggestion of mustiness.

February 15, 2015 - Just perfect. Slily smooth, everything just lined up as it should be. Did not decant, but I did let it breathe for 1-2 hours before dinner. I would have given it a higher score, but it did not have the depth of flavor to merit this.

September 15, 2012 - Classic Bordeaux. Not much more to say than that. Yes, it's a second wine (not always reliable), but the vintage shined through. I did not decant but let it breathe for about 1 hour or so. Improved a bit through the bottle, but mot dramatically. My guess is that it will not get much better over time, although I see no reason to panic.

May 7, 2011 - Decanted for 4 hours. This wine really stepped up tonight. Tart red fruit and wonderful earthy qualities raised everyone's eyebrows at the table. It was the wine of the night among a 92 Château Haut Marbuzet and an '06 Daniel Bocquenet Vosne-Romanée.

October 10, 2010 - Decanted for 2 hours and was very rich as an initial sipping wine, but believe it or not it held up to jalapeno poppers from the grill - I think it was the bacon that connected it and the heat of the peppers didn't over power it. I did al;so taste it with some steak I made for the kids and it really opened up with that. Really opulent nose of dark fruits and spices and on the palate beautiful integration of fruit and faint oak and the finish was lush, but a little short. This wine has many years left IMHO. I plan to look for more and its proof of the caliber of the 2000 vintage that this 2nd label is this impressive.

September 15, 2006 - Decanted for 3-4 hours before I had the first glass. The nose offered berry, cedar, licorice and green pepper. In the mouth it was interesting...but not delicious. It had good balance and something happening...but no Mmmm. As the night wore on it picked up some toffee on the nose but the vegetal notes became overpowering. In the mouth it became tiring. We wound up dumping the last 1/3 of the bottle down the drain.

August 12, 2006 - Great value for 2nd label Lascombes. Deep purple, classic cedar and smoke. Tannins nicely absorbed, good balance, drinking well now. Very nice.
