Community Tasting Notes 13

June 26, 2012 - Pleasant surprise given the wash out 02 in the Rhone. Very aromatic and mostly representative of N Rhone with smoked meat, olive, scosh of horse, pepper, sour pie cherry.
Light to mid weight at the most, tart, refreshing acidity, low tannin.
Very good with smoked brisket BBQ. Enjoyable, and probably needs drinking sooner rather then waiting too much longer.

September 4, 2010 - Barnyard and metal. Not really my type of wine, so I'm not the best judge.

August 22, 2010 - Opaque, medium ruby with bright purple hues. Medium to medium plus viscocity and concentration. NOSE: barnyard, plumskin, bell pepper, ground white pepper, camfur, cigar box, forest floor; PALATE: raspberry, black cherry, baked cherry, bell pepper, ground white pepper, cigar box, pencil lead, graphite, forest floor. ASSESSMENT: medium tannins, medium to medium plus alcohol, medium to medium minus acidity. Medium finish and medium complexity. This wine finishes a bit hot. Alcohol definitely beats out tannins and acidity in the end. A really nice Rhone nose, but the finish and palate is a bit disspointing. I guess this is expeced from the 2002 vintage.

April 18, 2010 - Getting together with friends: Very funky nose at first. Smoke, barnyard, earth, matchbox. A little tart; medium bodied. Iron/mineral notes. My first cote-rotie and the jury is still out. A little to much barnyard/matchbox for my taste.
