September 3, 2022 - Gorgeous color, nice nose but a bit tannic, light with a reasonable finish, definitely needs the two hour decant. Needed a two hour decant and then another hour in the glass before it really started to improve. In the end, a long wait and significant cost for only a moderate wine.

August 23, 2022 - I’ve got a lot of 2000s, nice wines that often don’t show much terroir. This has plenty of St Julien tobacco and dirt. Some tannic structure, good acids, no hurry, but drinking well. Cassis, black plum, tobacco, soil, hint of mushroom. B+/A-

July 22, 2022 - First tasting of this case. Cork broke upon opening. Could not rescue, had to push through. The nose was bold and energetic, a bit of cedar, solid fruit, hardwood desk. Taste had level soft tannins, some blackberry and raspberry albeit a bit tart. Got better in the glass over time. Will plan ahead of time next time to decant for a couple of hours.
Overall a welcome surprise and can't wait to try the next bottle.

July 8, 2022 - Decanted briefly. Nice aged Medoc not giving up much in the way of nuance tonight but delicious. Not sure if this is past peak, in an intermediate stage, or an off bottle compared to the last one.

July 8, 2022 - Break out the trumpets and fly the banners high, the 2000 Lagrange has finally arrived at the peak of the mountain. This is what Bordeaux is all about. More Pauillacish at this stage, full of pencil shavings, graphite, cedared potpourri, and beautiful funk. This takes me back to some of the first Bordeaux that I fell in love with. Drink in a dark cozy room filled with leather and dim light.

(Lagrange) Stunning nose of cocoa, leather, mint, bbq sauce, menthol, asian spice. Very aromatically precise. Almost like a solid in the mouth. Great density and weight but still retains elegance. It was amazing how big how many of the 2000's were but what was more amazing was how much elegance they had. They all punched you in the face, but you saw it coming in very slow motion. Remarkable - - this vintage.

(Château Lagrange (St. Julien)) Meaty nose; very concentrated, rich, tasty, cassis, plum palate; medium-plus finish
