October 22, 2021 - Dark Golden in colour. Notes of honey, butterscotch, pineapple, and apricot. Nice acidity, and long finish. When first opened it was quite muted, but then as it opened up, wow, it exploded with so many different smells and tastes. Such a treat.

    October 15, 2018 - Ohh the joy.

Yquem simply delivers EVERYTIME. This was a beautiful way to wind up the tasting. Delicious lychee, exotic fruit, stewed mango and peach and hints of overripe pineapple (the one which you need to take a bath after eating) but not lacking any acidity or structure.

Drink now or hold for another decade. This bottle is not going anywhere.

June 17, 2011 - Great Grapes for a Great Cause SQN Tasting -- 4th Annual; 6/17/2011-6/18/2011 (Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC): this came right after a '16 yquem and was a real surprise to me. Not a 'classic' vintage for Yquem by any means, but this was a classic Yquem in my book. Nice acidity. Apricot, honey, tropical fruit (papaya?)and a little white pepper.

February 3, 2007 - Y2 day in the Librije, Zwolle, Netherlands. (Yquem tasting) (De Librije, Zwolle, Netherlands.): Fairly light bouquet. The sweetness is the main ingredient. Some apple and white pepper in the taste. The aftertaste is shorter compared to the 1983 we drank before.
This is a beautiful but light weight Yquem.

October 8, 2006 - Medium gold color. Intense nose of apricot, brioche, honey and vanilla, with hay, dry leaf and woodsy notes. On the palate it is silky and full bodied, very satisfying if not exactly explosive in the mouth.

November 23, 2004 - Institution of Civil Engineers - Château d'Yquem: Brilliant gold.
Slightly musty bouquet, wool and mixed fruit.
No hint of mustiness in the taste, luscious but lacking concentration.

July 10, 2004 - light weight but bright sugary nose with a bit of sulphur at first and rather simple flavour; lovely flowery notes later and a delicate comparable taste, but a bit thin. touch of coconut as a bit of excitement as very fresh nose airs.
