September 6, 2021 - Wife's 50th birthday wine that she decided to share with friends tonight.

    Dark amber color

Cork was solid and came out easily with the Durant.

Nose is mesmerizing and I know it's going to be good.

Palate was richly sweet perfectly balanced by nice acidity. Botrytis notes added complexity and a hint of spice.

A great bottle and textbook example of a well aged Sauternes.

    May 26, 2021 - Outstanding bottle at age 50!
Amazing balance, lovely sweet apricots mingled with mandarin and other spices.
Consumed over 5 nights, held its own and even improved becoming even more unctuous.

January 24, 2020 - Wow! Having this at Park Place Cafe with the foie gras crepe, and what a wine & food match.

Not too sweet, but still quite rich. Really darned tasty, and a pleasure to drink tonight.

September 24, 2019 - This bottle, which appeared to be in excess condition, was tired. Not spoiled, cooked, corked, though. Excellent vibrant mahogany color, lighter than many previous bottles of this wine. Both aroma and palate were straightforward and simple, yielding oak, tangerine and almond. I don’t get the luscious botrytis I expect or the multilevel flavors. Enjoyable on its own terms but fading.

September 18, 2019 - Sexy and seductive. Honeycomb, marzipan, orange peel, stone fruits, elderflower, hazelnuts and candied ginger. So balanced and smooth on the palate with crisp acidity that makes you want to have another sip or even better, another glass! 48 years old and just starting to hit its prime. Foie gras anyone or as we did, with pecan pie.

February 4, 2019 - What a treat! Enjoyed at a Chinese New Year's banquet. High shoulder fill in a 750. Dark amber color. Just lovely. Apricot, burnt caramel, and toasted nuts. Plenty of acid, too. A very strong showing given its age. On the downside of its evolution but fading very slowly and still delivers.

July 8, 2018 - Stunning. Deep copper in color. Lots of botrytis on the nose. Thick mouthfeel with flavors of molasses, toffee, and dried apricot. Continues to drink well, even improve, after a week of opening. Not the most complex Sauternes, but the power is exceptional.
