April 14, 2024 - Crisp, not too yeasty, great with cheese before dinner
March 21, 2024 - Very effervescent, a nose of brioche and minerality. Green apple is predominant on the palate initially. After about 30 minutes, the green apple notes diminish and are replaced by stone fruit flavors. Clean and crisp throughout. A nice champagne, but I expected more nuance and mineralogy for the price.
BTW, the info at the myorigins website of Billecart is very helpful and interesting.
January 21, 2024 - Green apple, citrus and hints of brioche. Very refeshing and elegant. Paired perfectely with Schnitzel & fries
January 18, 2024 - Soaring acid out of balance
January 17, 2024 - Well balanced on the palate with notes of lemon, grapefruit, green apple, pear, mineral and toast. High acidity.
January 6, 2024 - Much more of a heavy hitter than I had expected. Strong flavor intensity, great body weight on the palate, perfectly balanced with med+ acidity. I cannot wait to try this again.
January 1, 2024 - New Years Day: Vrai Champagne, Seventh Annual Edition (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN): Tasting pour. This always seems to kick it up a level from the regular Brut Reserve. This bottle was right on point again. Well balanced, finesse, creamy, delightful. 92+ to 93pts.
January 1, 2024 - Drank a small pour at a tasting. This wine completely exceeded my expectation. It had the elegance, power and lift that matched 2006 Piper cuvee rare that was also at this tasting. This is a big step up from their regular NV brut which I also adore.
December 30, 2023 - Classy BdB. Creamy, with juicy lemon peel and lively fine bubbles. Polished and elegant.
December 18, 2023 - 3.9g/l and Q3 2022 disgorgement. 68% 2016 base and 32% reserve wines which go back to 2014.
Just a great aperitif champagne. Lots of saline, I got a hint of buttered popcorn on the nose. Didn’t realize they did partial malo until I looked it up. Fun to drink, but gone in a hurry.
