July 15, 2017 - One of the best Chardonnays I have ever tasted. A little past peak in my opinion. Paired this with Alaskan Dungess crab legs and the sweetness of the crab meat made the wine shine. I wasn't sure that would be the case.
July 10, 2015 - Chardonnay Taste-Off (Tom's house in Palo Alto, California): Nose: B+. Palate: B++/A-
My #9, Group's #9 (109 pts). Tasted Blind.
November 29, 2014 - Simply outstanding. My last unfortunately
July 19, 2014 - Pale golden in color and rich with hints of honeysuckle and tropical fruits. A real delight even at 10 years on.
March 1, 2014 - Hints of grapefruit, straw yellow. Higher alcohol, but you wouldn't know it. Even at 10 years old, it's still a beautiful wine. Just shows how well big format bottles age.
May 24, 2013 - The wine is lightly straw colored with just a touch of cloudiness. 14.8% ABV. Rich aromas of apple, lemon and honey. Tropical fruits, custard, honeysuckle, spice and lemon on the palate. Oily and luscious. Great mouthfeel and acidity. Everything is in balance here. At 9 years of age this wine has lost its youthful exuberance but has truly aged into a sublime expression of California Chardonnay. Drink over the next year or so.
December 27, 2010 - Massive flavors, but in balance for the style. Tropical fruits and resinous wood with a touch of sweetness that keeps the butter in check. Slightly hot on the finish, which knocks a couple of points off for me.
April 25, 2010 - nice, and consistent notes with a year ago. the wine is holding it's performance level well. alas, our last bottle.
April 5, 2009 - beautiful showing for this chard. butterscotch and citrus notes. despite some relatively high alcohol (14.8%), a nicely balanced wine with a clean finish.
April 5, 2009 - Cloudy, viscus yellow color. Lite lemon and butter nose. Massive flavors of lemon oil and oak - possibly too much for food. Very long nice finish.
