November 17, 2021 - Jim's btl tonight w/Vincent's fabulous 9 course dinner with 12 close wine buddies at the Minikahda Club in Minneapolis marking my retirement in days. First off, special thanks to Jim for bringing a '79 to mark the year I started my sales career in earnest. 1977's economy sucked, so I sold cars immediately out of college. Very fun & very thoughtful of Jim! Again, here the nose was the star with its prominent BDX cigar box aromas. The palate is resolved and charming. Maybe could stand a bit more fruit and slightly past its best days flavor wise. Here's to 1979! Also the year Nita & I started a lifetime of making memories, raising kids and blessed with w/ two fantastic grandsons in the last 8yrs. I'm a very lucky guy!

November 17, 2021 - Craig's Retirement Party (Minikahda Club, Mpls): Dark red color. PNP, drank a glass over an hour. This was a nice surprise. I have not had a Langoa with this kind of age on it. It showed really well with all the tertiary character you could ask for in a mature Bordeaux. Tobacco and cigar ash dominate, still nice floral notes of violets, cherry, blood orange, and a lot mineral notes. 92+ to 93pts.

March 9, 2019 - This is an excellent wine where you still sense a lot of fruit - very smooth and elegant - tannins and acidity are medium minus - and you do not think for a moment that this wine is from 1979 - We had is as a blind tasting - we all liked it a lot but was far out in finding the age - I am very happy to give this wine 92 - a great experience.
