August 21, 2021 - Utterly spectacular, the wine of the night at our dinner club last night against some very stiff competition from a few similarly aged high end Bordeauxs. I wish we had more then this one bottle. Paired beautifully with an Asian lamb dish. This easily has another 5-10 years to go with proper cellaring. THIS is what a high end mature sangiovese should be like and taste like.

August 14, 2021 - I drank this wine over eleven years ago and I think I just need to repeat the tasting note from then. Well, maybe change the restaurant and take out the “still quite primary”. It has soften just a touch. “Stunning wine! Great dinner at Piano Piano. Bright red; very little sign of age. Forward nose of forest floor notes, violets, raspberry. Balance palate with intense dark fruit and touch of wood. Long focused and balanced finish. Everything a Brunello should be! Easily will go another 5 to 10 years.”

November 27, 2020 - Lovely nose of dark fruit and earth. Good fruit still with red currant and boysenberry. Also mid-palate of licorice and spice. Long elegant finish. Very satisfying. Perfect now and should last several more years but likely will not improve more.

January 30, 2020 - Nice wine. Ripe year, still good fruit without tons of complexity, good acid and just passing its prime

May 2, 2019 - First bottle from a case, Coravin pour only. Dark garnet in the glass without visible bricking. The first sip confirms that this has held up well with still juicy dark fruit, soil and some medicinal notes. Clearly a modern Brunello on the dark spectrum of things which must have seen mainly French barrique. While easy drinking, this does not show much complexity so cannot fully agree with some of the enthusiastic notes below. Will see how rest of bottle shows with a bit more air.
This was the first vintage of Poggio alle Mura and hence one of the earlier single vineyards Brunellos. As per Banfi webpage, vines were planted only in 1992, so it would not be fair to expect already a particularly complex wine here. Well done for what it is.
