NOSE: expressive; quite rich for a Fino; tawny; nutty; typical Sherry saline note; aromatically, approaching Amontillado territory.

BODY: light golden-tan color; light bodied.

TASTE: medium acidity; hint of bloomy rind cheese --- camembert; dry; nutty; a hypothetical cross between a Fino and an Amontillado. I'd previously heard that some of EN's Finos can, or likely could, age well, so I decided to test that theory with this bottle. Unfortunately, I never had this wine young, so can't offer any comparative insights. That said, this was truly an astounding Fino that certainly seemed no worse for the wear, and quite possibly improved as a result of the 11 years in bottle. A truly special Fino. Bravo. gut impression score: 94 – 95.

February 4, 2018 - Absolutely outstanding bottle of this great Fino. 10 years in the cellar and the wine is a mellow, complex, finely detailed expression of the chalk and sunshine of Jerez, of Macharnudo. Salt, nuts, butter and toffee, fruit! This is just gorgeous wine. Pungent and long on the finish. Sad to say goodbye to this, the last bottle I had, and likely will ever have.

September 8, 2017 - From memory, clearly aging now, a bit of softness and round body with less zip, still plenty delicious but not as interesting.

June 14, 2016 - Almost a year since the last bottle, and while this latest certainly seems softer than I remember early bottles, it remains fresh and vigorous, leaning a bit towards white table wine. Having recently reread Liem and Barquin's book, this wine exemplifies the virtues they write of regarding aging under flor, no sense of oxidation and the very light texture of low glycerol.
