March 14, 2019 - Revisited with filet, mashed, and spinach. Holding up well- a good thing because I held the last six bottles rather than drink them. I’m glad I did.

July 3, 2017 - Better than before, but still muddled. Getting smoother, and deeper, but the fruit is lacking. More like a meat reduction than grapes. Drinking well now if you like it.

March 3, 2017 - Surprisingly dark center, red to pink rim with a little sign of age.
Balsam, tar, cherries, muted nose overall.
Woody beginning, strawberry ice cream, meaty, solid tannins still, okay finish with some weedy notes.
Good Barolo, quite disjoint and a little mean, drinking okay now, probably needs a few more years, but not sure it will survive.

January 16, 2017 - Dead: total fruit fade, just a black pool of soy sauce and oak juice.

February 25, 2016 - This is simply not very good. Sad to say but it is true. Acrid nose. Dry on the palate. Tasteless. If you own this, give it to someone you don't really like.

July 24, 2015 - Decanted for 2h. An off bottle, the fruit and spice is offset by unbalanced acidity. Too oxidized for me. I've experienced some bottle variation in this case at auction, this bottle is my last -- and none too soon -- it seems to be in decline.

July 10, 2015 - Decanted for 1h. Off to a bit of a rocky start - initially some rotten fruit flavors upon opening. After an hour to 90 minutes, this now tastes like a mature well made Barolo, with sour cherry, raspberry, spice and oak and an acid finish. Tannins have more or less resolved. Good strength but not as complex with secondary flavors as I would have liked. I would say this is at peak.

Markedly improved on day 2. There is greater intensity of fruit, now getting cranberries as well as the raspberries and sour cherries. The baking spice notes are also better integrated and the oak, tannins and acid finish is smoother. Paired very nicely with smoky grilled chicken thighs basted in a yogurt and curry marinade. The spicy finish of the Barolo is perfect with the pepper in the marinade. Summer grilling perfection! I revised my previous score of 89 on day 1 to a score of 91 tonight.

May 9, 2015 - Decanted for 2h. This is a decent Barolo, with a terrific fruity and spicy nose, but the palate fails to deliver on its fragrance, even after 2h in a decanter. Not sure if this has peaked or is in decline. Time to drink up.
