August 18, 2016 - A bit richer than my bottle two years ago, but still with great balance and seeming to have plenty of life left in it.
May 31, 2014 - Paired nicely with spicy yogurt-marinated chicken kebabs and green lentils. Notes of lightly sweet apricot, honey and quince in perfect harmony with racy, lime-drenched acidity and a hint of lanolin. Lovely.
August 8, 2012 - I've gone through half a case of this over the last 9 months or so, and I've become pretty familiar with it. But there's an almost earthy/dusty aroma it has after a little air in the glass that I can't quite put my finger on, but which I find really compelling. Never experienced that in a Mosel Riesling before. The fruit on the nose is running towards the scent of red currant jelly for me, which is also very attractive to me. There's a bright acidic streak underneath the light sweetness here, making this extremely versatile with food. Wish I would run across another case, or that more recent vintages would turn out as well.
March 31, 2012 - Sweet lemon curd aromas, a bracing acidity on the palate, and a racy, limey finish. Nice bottle.
March 14, 2012 - Another delightful bottle. Pronounced apple and herb aromas, on the palate this is beginning to show some more mature flavors: a prominent note of quince jelly that balances the burnished fruit with tangy acidity. Moderate sweetness and integrated acids.
January 26, 2012 - This bottled opened with some fairly intense petrol aromas, but after about half an hour, that subsided to reveal some lovely yellow fruits and herbs on the nose, almost a minty note. The palate is nicely rich without being heavy and has a brothy flavor that's quite compelling. the acidity is completely integrated at this point and keeps the wine nicely buoyant.
November 26, 2011 - Meant to open the '02 Auslese but opened this instead, and I have to say the mistake was not immediately apparent. This is drinking gorgeously right now, with a wonderful blend of fruit, floral aromas, and herbs on the nose, and a palate that's still pleasantly sweet but is beginning to unfold its layers of flavor nicely. Very nice. And I'll have to get to that Auslese soon.
October 26, 2011 - GERMAN RIESLING KABINETTS (Vin Vino Wine, Palo Alto CA): Rich Yellow color
Nose: yeasty, honey.
Tste: yeast, lemon curd, peaches.
July 27, 2010 - In a great spot with loads of minerals, pears, and a fruit laden midpalate with great buried acidity. Possesses that intoxicating perfume of rocks.
November 15, 2009 - Showing some nice development but I found the sweetness overwhelming in this kabinett. Came back to it several times over the course of a week and it just never worked for me.
