Community Tasting Notes 30

May 2, 2015 - Not as good as last tried several years ago. Fruit seems to be fading and is probably time to drink up. Dark cherry. Nose of plum and earth. Mostly a nice acidic minerality on the palate with a touch of blueberry and tart chrry. Still a nice wine and what a Barbera should taste like as contrasted with massive fruit when last tried. Rated lower this time, since I like fruit in my wine.

August 15, 2014 - Very nice nose, blueberry, liquorice/ dense palate bold but fine tannin, not much length 13.5%

October 19, 2013 - Deep garnet in color with a glint of purple. Nose of plums, violets, and hint of earth. Tasted very pure with tastes of cherries, plums, and hint of dark chocolate. Well balanced wine. At it's peak. No rush to drink, but unlikely to improve.

December 8, 2012 - As good a Barbera as you could wish for. Pristine cherry red. Glorious perfumed nose of flowers, cherry and plum. Plush, smooth fruity palate of cherry, plum, lead pencil and earth. I loved this wine. Great with roasted breast of veal in a light tomato/garlic wash. Not a drop of tannin and ready to go. I surmise at its peak.

August 18, 2012 - This wine surprised me. When opened, the nose perfumed the whole room, something I had never seen in other Barberas (G. Conterno, Pelissero, Batasiolo etc.). It was decanted for two hours and consumed by four people. Everybody loved it. Sandrone is definitely a great producer.
