February 26, 2023 - Wow, very nice aged Bordeaux. Years ago, bought a case of the ‘87, as it was affordable, I think ‘87 was a ‘lesser’ vintage. Cork broke, opened the wine an hour before dinner. So this is what made Cabernet Sauvignon Bordeaux world famous. Too bad I couldn’t afford cases every year since! Absolutely lovely wine, Yum! And only 12% VOL.
January 21, 2023 - Still in great shape and perfectly drinkable. Cabernet and pencil lead are forefront. Nice balance with more finesse than strength.
January 19, 2023 - Eupsychian Atariaxia. Which basically means calming yourself towards a higher mind. Aged Boysenberry,, concorde, barnyard. Started out funky. 2 hours in the decanted fixed that. Overall we loved it. It was a magnum and we had a great steak dinner with it!
April 23, 2022 - Fully mature. Was not expecting much but I did thoroughly enjoy this with a selection of roasts - duck, chicken, lamb. Was completely resolved and was singing all tertiary characteristics. Black fruit, tobacco, sous bois.
November 14, 2021 - Light and tannic; slender; round with some blackberry; light finish.
June 25, 2021 - Magnum. Pronounced nose with nose of mint, spices, toast, smoke, mushroom. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Medium+ finish. The nose > taste after aerating for 1-2 hours.
January 31, 2020 - This is a great example of waiting for a good wine to go bad. I love Pichon and collect it, but this wine is thin, acidic, and past it’s prime. Sorry
December 8, 2019 - Slight funky notes upon opening but after a while the wine mellowed to mature flavors primarily of olives and herbs. Opening a bottle this old is a rare occurrence. Fortunately this bottle has withheld the test of time.
May 25, 2019 - Rubber and cedar nose; textured blackberry; length.
March 22, 2019 - Corked
