December 11, 2009 - Quite a skanky cork under the foil, with copper coloured mould. Level was fine though and the cork itself in decent shape, despite protruding a little.
The wine itself is a bright yellow-gold colour, clear but for a few tartate crystals (mostly on the cork).
The nose is a joy of luscious poached apricots with accents of honey, very light caramel and a little lemon giving lift.
On the palate, rich but far from OTT, with a slightly pithy (almost but not quite bitter) quality to the apple/apricot fruit. Acidity is just about keeping up, but perhaps doesn't carry the zip it should. A very good length & complexity to the finish. All in all very enticing. -
