September 9, 2020 - This wine has held up well! Color is good! body is more full then expected. Clarity is perfect. Nice mouth feel - cherry and cranberry from start though the end. The finish is nice but dry's the tongue out bit.

March 3, 2019 - Broken cork. A fair amount of sediment, color ruby to brown. Powerful nose; leather, spicy, honey and cinnamon. More earthy than fruity. Palate of berries and cherries, some cinnamon and spice, fairly dry. Finish is a bit watery, has probably lost a bit of vibrance over the years.

November 26, 2018 - Way better than bottle consumed at the beginning of the month. Opened at the end of thanksgiving dinner as some guests were talking about phelps and I think his group made this wine. Fairly mature pinot but not dead like the last bottle. The previously dark fresh red fruit is giving way to more earthy notes. It does not have the elegance and complexity I hope for in old Burgundy but it was very nice to drink. One more left.

November 2, 2018 - Now in free fall. Perfect cork. Fruit gone. Lots of acidity and little else. But still some what drinkable with dinner (pizza). 2 left. Maybe this was an aberration.

March 11, 2018 - Had at Dimitres in Livermore. Paired with rack of lamb. Wine was a little brown at the edge. It drank okay, not complex but easy and soft. Not getting any better, it is likely good another year before the taste gets bad.

February 11, 2017 - OK...I've experience a lot of bottle variation...this one was singing from open to close. cranberry, blueberries integrated and in check with seawater, kiwi, a little cinnamon and decent acids...some of the others had missing fruit and complexity.

December 27, 2016 - Needs one hour for the sour mash to blow off! Heavy raspberry with a tangy edge...slight tar...not fully integrated. Will drink others over time....

December 12, 2015 - The cork broke while I was taking it out which to me is never a good sign. Surprising as it was perfectly stored. The nose was dark red fruit, the palate, dark cherry, rhubarb and earth with just a hint of spice. The finish was nice. It was overall enjoyable but the wine just drank more like a syrah than a pinot noir.
