June 19, 2022 - Better after a 2 hour decant
June 18, 2017 - was afraid to decant before serving, as was worried that it might die on the vine soon after opening.
It didn't. We opened and I took a taste, and decided to wait a few minutes. Within just a few minutes, it was fine.
Very elegant and distinctive. Great, powerful smell, and a very long finish. Definitely still OK to drink

September 16, 2012 - Surprisingly great- I was expecting the 2000 to be o ly ok. Nice nose, but the flavors are intense, huge fruit. Red berries and complex fruit bowl. Long complex finish.

April 30, 2011 - dusty smokey nose with raspberries and plums on palate..integrated tannins..not the power I expected but more subdued..popped and poured and drank well through dinner. will decant next bottle for few hours and hope for a little more from it
October 19, 2010 - Rich dusty plums, white pepper, tobacco and dark earth on the nose. Smooth palate with tannins fully integrated. Drinking at that beautiful place between primary and secondary. No loss of power, but all the harsh edges have been rounded off.
December 6, 2009 - Had at dinner after running the CA Int'l Marathon. So I was too tired to take formal notes but enjoyed the wine very much. Glad to have had it now as it seems to be on the other side of its "peak" if you believe in that kind of thing.
November 5, 2009 - Wow, wouldn't know that the vintage was weak from this wine. Black fruit, hint of sweet plum. Very smooth medium + body wiht blanket of layered fruit. Awesome mid palate but finishes a little short...
