September 26, 2021 - Still a beautiful, mature, complex and soft CDP from one of the best in the business but not as good as the previous 1-2 bottles - I think we are now a little past prime. Too expensive to be a good QPR wine. Needs air - opened in the bottle for 2-3 hours prior to consumption. Light purple with peripheral bricking, medium bodied, soft mouth feel, well integrated, elegant and complex with a moderately long aftertaste. Nose soft, complex and dark with dark fruit, herbs and smoke. Soft mouth feel, well integrated complex flavors of grilled meats, smoke, garrigue, cassis, dark plum and a lighter floral note. Highly recommend this wine, too expensive to be any kind of a good QPR for those whom that matters and need to start drinking up any remaining holdings.

September 19, 2021 - Travelling OK but feels as though it has peaked. Fruit slightly fading but still showing some interesting autumnal and undergrowth flavours, sour black cherries and herbs. Wouldn’t hold this any longer.

August 29, 2021 - Drank from 375 ml. Definitely on the decline. Decanted for over an hour. Muted and our bottle had a ridiculous amount of sediment — was hard to believe it was only a ‘99. Still enjoyed but it is past its prime.

August 23, 2021 - Starts out a bit moldy and less precise, grows in the glass, gains freshness and precision. Was better tha last time around.

August 6, 2021 - first bottle was heavily gone, the nose was old newspaper, no fruit... 2nd bottle the same, 3rd bottle the same... my cellar is a constant 11 degrees
a mystery, maybe the bret that Beaucastel was once famous for ?

June 8, 2021 - This bottle was definitely on the decline. Drinkable but lacking in fruit and therefore a little to bit to aged.
Wine some, lose some. One bottle left. Let’s hope this will be more successful

May 9, 2021 - Gorgeous Beaucastel! This wine sings. The nose is a magnificent blend of cassis, spice, garrigue, pepper, hints of violets, smoke and gravel. Lush, incredibly smooth and rich, with sweet, soft tannins, plenty of evolved fruit and more stones. The finish was velvety soft and lasted 1 minute plus. It reminded me why I love Ch. Beaucastel. It has plenty of life left in it too. Too bad this was my last bottle of the '99

May 2, 2021 - Nose of stewed cherries and plums. Taste confirms the nose, with a slightly reductive vintage port quality. Not much remaining in the way of perceivable tannins, and low acidity. Good, but probably on the downward trend - would drink up any remaining bottles in the next couple years.
