Community Tasting Notes 8

November 13, 2021 - An elegant wine to be sure. And three years later, definitely moving toward readiness. Without any 2006 rot or off notes. Beautiful dark color, initially auburn but later dark garnet, with a nose of elegant rose, cherry, bramble and old oak. The palate was tight. It gave up some high level dark cherry and light floral notes but even after 2 hours of slo ox, 45 min of decanting and 30 min in the glass, this wine needs another 2 years.

April 28, 2018 - Nothing to score but promise. Regal dark black red Chambertin promise. Even after an hour’s decant, barely a hint of fruit though it does appear to lie below the surface. The wine was a bit dry, and a whiff of blackberry and black currant was suffocated by integrated tannins and dry overtones. It probably will open up given the recent nice reviews but this bottle at least has promise as its main virtue. No obvious corking so that is a doubtful cause.

April 21, 2018 - A perfectly balanced burg with an addictive nose. This has a wonderfully long earthy taste that begs you to take another sip. This is a sophisticated Pinot.

March 2, 2018 - Pre-Paulée Friday Warm-up Dinner (Piperade - SF, CA): Lots of rich black fruit with some clay and earth tones. Pretty backward and brooding right now. Upside from here.

March 2, 2018 - Pre-Paulée Warm-up Dinner (Piperade - San Francisco CA): Rich and very ripe with softer structure than I expected. Good nuance and subtle evolving charm. I've had better bottled, or perhaps this was just overshadowed in tonight's embarrassment of riches.
