March 2, 2019 - Dinner at the Papies (The Papies, Elizabeth St, London): 9 years have past since we crossed path with this wine and still remains as fresh and ever lasting as back then ( Papies 94-95). Dense dark and rich, solid core of acidity though and with lots of length and just keeps on going and going. Granted we felt it was a bit more rustic and our palates have become more demanding over the last 9 years but still a very solid wine. 92

January 26, 2019 - Worth seeking out. Has the consistency and depth of a port or lighter PX and has around 13.5 - 14% alchohol. Nice drying finish to give it more than just a sweet finish. Rich blackurrant, liquorice chocolate. Holds to glass.
    Great retro label

November 27, 2018 - This stuff is nuts. It’s like biting into the biggest, juiciest, ripest black plum ever. It has a finish with the sustain and balance like a classic Les Paul. You can taste it breathing through you nose for 45 seconds after swallowing. Enough acidity to maintain brilliant structure but no astringency. This stuff is insane fruit but full body. It’s almost 60 years old but nowhere near at its end. Love it.

November 20, 2018 - My fifth bottle of this and the first that didn't blow me away. Still excellent and highly recommended, but it lacked the depth and complexity of previous bottles. The nose is amazing: black walnuts, dark fruits, and alcohol. The flavors are much the same, but this bottle seemed a bit lighter and the finish was definitely shorter.

August 26, 2018 - My 4000th tasting note - why not give to to something completely from left field. A fortified sweet wine from Sicily... (you must be kidding right). Did not expect much here, besides that, I almost never drink Tawny and other sweet wines. However, I had to say that the complexity here was wonderful. Maggi, flowers, tobacco, sandal wood. Well done. Tasted during a Wine Advocate Matter of Taste walkabout event.
