November 25, 2013 - 1993 Double Blind Horizontal (Chris'): Double blind. Pale ruby color. Fragrant aromas of aged red fruit and herbs. Palate shows medium body with good dose of acid that provides balance. More earth-driven flavors on the palate. Medium finish.

November 25, 2013 - Double Blind 1993s From Around the World (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind in what turned out to be a flight of 1993s from around the world. Pale-medium color. Earthy aromas with mature red fruit. Moderate intensity with good mushroom flavors with good spice. Moderate length or finesse, perhaps a few years past its peak, but very clean and pleasurable tonight.

June 7, 2013 - med garnet color; nose of figs, herbs, tart red cherry/pomegranate juice; first flavors follow the nose, add light spices, tart red cherry, hint of stewed strawberry ; med body, light balanced finish, complex "echo" of the first impressions; med long, crisp finish, tartness more than "weight"; very balanced wine, maybe 5 yrs beyond "fruitiness" prime but at a very good place for me

January 2, 2008 - In the glass a light ruby color with the faintest of amber at the edge - The nose is very reticent and with coaxing the faintest of cranberry, spice and the telltale aroma of maturing pinot - In the mouth an acidic backbone, little fruit and a lingering stemminess that is not all that attractive - Not one of WS better efforts

April 3, 2007 - Pinot Cafe: Lots of rim change--brick color; fantastic aromatics of asian spice, tar, truffles, licorice, with great high notes; 1st notes were musk and wet sock, tho, and appeared a couple times during the evening. Long finish, earthy, complex, Barbaresco-like! Amazingly good!!! W/truffles on a egg thing on a brioche. So perfect w/this. Also had succulent veal loin w/celery cream sauce, apple deep fried. Killer.

December 19, 2005 - This was an auction bottle, so I have no idea how it was stored... The cork was pushed up a bit, and wine had seeped all the way through the cork. The wine was a pale plum color, with a little bit of murkiness. On the nose, some raspberry and cherry, vanilla and cola; light bodied in the mouth; tart with a faint impression of berry sweetness and a hint of porcini mushroom. Short finish. It drinks like a once excellent pinot that is dying with dignity.
