April 4, 2019 - Dark and ripe, not overripe. Some green notes and a very very long greenish finish. Fascinating wine

March 9, 2019 - Beautiful MB in its prime. Double decanted 1/2 hr before serving with a pork roast and mushroom sauce. Fine tannins well balanced with cab fruit flavors. Not especially weighty, really balances (I know I said that). Sad that it’s my last.

February 6, 2019 - Elegant and long with plum and cherry . It is clearly an older wine with a bit of mushroom and funk. The folks at ridge never disappoint. They were my first great wine experience sitting with my sister in Santa cruz and I still love what they do.

December 25, 2018 - 1 hr in decanter. Nose of cherry, cedar and slightly spicy. BlackBerry and plumb on the palette, well balanced with a good amount of freshness for an 18 year old cab. Some spice and cedar on the mid palette and through the finish. A good bit of grippy tannin as well. Very good wine.

October 16, 2018 - Ridge Cabs (La Trompette, London): A little less scented. More Rhôney in profile. A touch of prune / stewed fruit here too. Seems atypical and below par cf previous 99s. Somewhat evolved. A little cooked? Still decent but not what it should be. ***1/2. After an hour or so, a touch of bovril
    Too.

(Ridge Monte Bello) Medium dark ruby color with slight bricking; lovely, lifted, raspberry, ripe plum, herbal, seaweed nose; tasty, silky textured, maturing but still youthful, tart cassis, cedar, herbal, dried seaweed palate; long finish (72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot)

(Ridge Monte Bello) Very dark red violet color; berry, cassis, beets, beef jus nose; maturing, beef jus, green peppercorn, berry, iron, black fruit and fig palate; medium-plus finish (on a faster evolutionary track than the average Monte Bello, but still elegant and with years ahead of it)

(Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello Cabernet Sauvignon) Wow! This has a very expressive nose, with piles of pure, deep, blue and black fruits on the nose. The palate is rather svelte, structured and yet balanced, rather more elegant than obvious. Rich, impressive wine, deep and spicy, with a core of ripe tannins which rally on the finish. Excellent, with great potential still.
