December 1, 2021 - This bottle was procured direct from the estate in 2009. Me & wife had the 1999 during lunch that time (during our honeymoon) and decided to buy 1 to bring back. Lovely color - garnet core with slightly rims & long legs. Nose; cassis, red berries, pencil lead and hint of eucalyptus. Still so intense after 22 years. Great elegance tannins, depth and complexity. This was an excellent companion with our pan seared Aussie Wagyu Zabuton

September 17, 2021 - Great wine. See previous notes. Continues to hold with no evidence of decline. Wonderful example of what WA can produce.

January 2, 2021 - Didn't care for the nose at first but any dodgy odors blew off after a couple of hours. Nose of carbon paper, tomato leaves, pork rind and almonds. Very fine tannins in the mouth with strawberry puree, burnt toffee and kalamata olives. Finish of bitter chocolate and turkish delight. Marvelous food wine with good enough balance to keep going all these years. Very enjoyable now, maybe a bit past its peak but still has its charms.

December 29, 2020 - Just when you think a wine wont get better, it does. This wine has tremendous staying power. Again took about 2 hours to open up and given its 21 yrs old, thats something for a WA wine. Same notes from last yr, but just a touch better. Solid cork. No rush if you are lucky to have any of this in your cellar

June 8, 2019 - Bordeaux like dusty, pencil shaving nose with balanced fruit on the front. Seems light at first but heads into a full flavoured, rich and surprisingly long finish. Still some subtle tannins. This wine has a few years left in it tho I doubt it will improve. Excellent example of what WA does best with its blended reds. Very nice wine.
Initially gave 95 points but after 2 hours it opened up into a great wine. Much more fruit, length (difficult to believe) and finish. This is a monster.

July 25, 2017 - Just an absolutely superb wine. It has taken time for all the elements to come together and sadly some out of the case were drunk to early but this wine has been one of the highlights this year.

Medium to full bodied, darkish fruit and a long, long finish that goes on for ages. Wonder multi layered complexity through the mid palate.
