Community Tasting Notes 15

February 14, 2019 - Initial wafting nose of spice, cedar box, black pepper, moving into capsicum and a faded fruit note. On the palate a firm dry fruit presence with a crisp acid frame and a whisper of tannin, aromatic note of white pepper at the back, long acid finish. Firm but frail, lovely with shepherd’s pie. 50 + 16 + 15 + 8 = 89.

December 2, 2018 - Either over the hill or slightly corked...hard to tell. Not much going on with this, and it's all acid with a hint of funk on the nose. Nothing else.

Surprisingly youthful color, although not all that dense. Smells like an old wine --- a green leafiness dominates, with some faint red fruit aromas poking in and out of the background. On the palate, no tannins or alcohol is noticeable. Good acidity. Just as with the Nose, the Taste is that of an old wine: completely tertiary at this point, and certainly a few (if not 10) years past its peak. Still an interesting wine to drink today, but it's more "interesting" than "good." This wine is in hospice right now, and it won't be long before it's completely dead. Drink Now.

January 14, 2017 - Fantastic bottle. Youthful fruit with tertiary notes. Tannins resolved and acid perfect. Nice pairing with steak.

May 18, 2016 - Not a detailed note, but this is utterly delicious right now. More fruit on the palate than my last note suggested. A lovely aged wine.
