January 25, 2017 - MW 2012 Annual Bordeaux Tasting San Francisco, nose of ash, dark fruit, touch of cigar box and spice, same on the palate, medium body, tasty fruit, near term drinking next 7 years, touch simple, medium finish.

January 21, 2017 - 375ml bottle purchased 2 weeks back. Colour is still deep red with hints of purple, fading and bricking on the outer 1/3. 10 minutes after opening the nose was really quite lovely and lifted with violets, cassis, cigar and a hint of vegetation, however the palate was overly tart and still solid puckeringly dry tannins. after about an hour the nose faded to be a little more muted/tightly knit, but the palate started to drink much better. cassis, cigar box and a rich vein of fruit tried to put its head out from behind the wall of acid and tannin. Ever present tannin and crisp acidity will long outlive the fruit i feel. I would drink this now, with food if I had more of them. I recommend a 90 minute decant.

    January 27, 2016 - 1855 2eme.

February 20, 2014 - Monopole: Ruby red color with light fading; Very faint corky note at first; Light smoke, cherry, black cherry kirsch, soft leather and sweet tobacco; nice red floral notes; medium light body, tart black cherry, slight metalic minerality, dry earth, but hefty tannins and good acidity; Very dry tannic finish. Interesting, a bit prematurely developed. 88-89

September 5, 2012 - Classic margaux nose, 15 mins breathing, firm structure/garnet color, still with solid tannin lingering in the mouth. better to sit for 30 mins to start with, bouquet evloving decently after the first hour, palate dark fruit, plum, slightly acidic medium to longer finish and the balance is okay. No regret @ 32 pounds damage the bottle could still running strong for at least 5 years IMHO.

March 18, 2010 - Good classic Margaux nose, developed better nose after 40-50mins. Good fruits but finish was rather short and fades quite fast.
