Community Tasting Notes 10

  • Tim Heaton Likes this wine:

February 12, 2017 - {375ml} Despite its advanced color, this was in fine form last night. Bright, engaging aromas full of fresh floral, lychee, candied orange peel, a splash of rose water, and bold citrus notes. Sweet, but really well-balanced; I finished my small pour, I rarely do that with stickies these days. Fine on its own, probably even better with the right cheese or nuts. 10,5% abv., thru 2021. recommended

    PnP, served non-blind.

December 18, 2016 - mango, peach/apricot, exotic citrus (think yuzu, bergamot, Meyer lemon) a little bit of oxidized character, 8.5/10 sweet, good acidity but could use a tad more to balance the sweetness. Very long finish. In a great place but probably not going to improve from here.

October 7, 2016 - Dazzling and exotic nose as always; mandarin, green tea, anjou pear, jasmine flowers. Somewhat less sweet and more acidic than these often are, but really tasty and sharp.

October 6, 2014 - Dinner with Johnny and Chris (Whisk (Chicago, IL)): Fantastic end to the meal. Had brought this out on several other occasions with the guys but never ended up opening it.
Nice rich marmalade, peach fuzz, white and yellow flowers, moderate roasted nut butter. Really nice. Long expansive palate. Gorgeous and sweet but still great acidity. Lemon curd, more fresh peach and light touches of wood chips. Really pretty and a great silky mouth feel. Still so so young. Didn't show a bit of age.

(Williams Selyem Gewürztraminer Late Harvest Vista Verde Vineyard) Light golden color; sugary nose; rich, tasty, lemon, Meyer lemon and tangerine sherbet palate; long finish (my WOTF)
