March 18, 2024 - Tasted blind. Bright red fruit, hint of white pepper, roses. It was impossible to guess as a 20 year old wine. Pristine bottle.By far the youngest tasting Produttori I recall, and it isn’t even the vineyard considered their best. Really surprising.

November 25, 2020 - Had another one of these 5 years ago that never came around when opened so I waited.

Results not much better. Believe the acidity has out lived the fruit

Upon opening there was decent fruit behind a large amount of tannin and with three hours the fruit faded a bit but so did the acidity.

February 29, 2020 - Needs air and some temperature for the fruit to show, but this is fading.

    September 12, 2019 - PdB Rio Sordo 2004.
Ville puttet denne i kategorien "halvsliten flaske" 87p

September 9, 2018 - Had bit on opening which was tight and lean as I expected, but let it open up for 3-4 hours and it showed much better with some pasta and pesto and herbed parmesan chicken. Had violets on the nose after opening up and black cherries and tobacco on the palate. The tannins are fine but still ever present so while good opened 4+ hours early, it could use another 3-5 years to come into it's own from my experience.

September 28, 2017 - Drank too young. Better on the second day after opening. Tight, closed initially. Adequate fruit and structure. Should develop with more age.

December 23, 2016 - I had this a couple of months ago but still - a beauty. Wonderfully proportioned and elegant, not a powerhouse. Probably lots of upside potential. Looking forward to the other Produttori '04s.

December 21, 2016 - Barolos and Barbarescos with some age (Osteria Langhe, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is highly aromatic and deep with licorice, red cherries, spice tones, roasted herbs, rose petals, violets, and a touch of tobacco. This is a nose that one can easily get lost in while it also favors the upper register.

Taste: Medium bodied with high acidity and high tannins. The structure is youthful with the feel having a silkiness to it along with red cherries, spice tones, rose petals, violets, and some tobacco notes.

Overall: This is a beautiful and still youthful Rio Sordo. While there is an openness to it, it feels like there is still plenty of room to develop and even get better.
