April 6, 2024 - Beautiful right now. While the tannins are still mildly present they have receded to the background and this is now a crisp, medium structured beauty with cherry, fennel, menthol, tar and rose notes underlaid by an attractive earth base. While this will hold longer I suspect this is peak drinking now. Well balanced and nicely acid. Lovely.

September 7, 2021 - decanted one hour, enjoyed over 3 more. med red, terra cotta edge; expressive cherry, woodland soil, camphor, spice; broad & deep on palate, firm tannins & plenty of acid length. excellent.

thoroughly satisfied my nebbiolo craving; first bottle of '04 Pora - hold

spaghetti alla chittarra, chanterelles, guanciale, pecorino, black pepper

April 16, 2021 - Farewell to Neil H. From his cellar but supplied by me! Deep ruby. Plenty fruits, some cassis but more black cherry and under ripe plum.Tobacco. Sandalwood. Still drying tannins. Lovely length and complexity. VG wine.

October 23, 2020 - on the bigger / bolder side for barbaresco, but its structure and acidity could carry the heft... this was really nice with the whole menagerie, dark fruit, acidity for lift, oomph / tannin which undoubtedly will settle down over time, spice / tobacco / cedar etc... I suspect this will go over the hill before it ever becomes 'elegant' but I think with ten plus more years it might just have 93/94 magic... too bad I - for some reason - only bought one

July 19, 2020 - Red fruit, leather, roses, tar, and maybe a hint of alcohol on the nose. Nice acidity, good structure, and flavors of tart red berries, cherries, and blood orange in the palate. Good finish.

May 15, 2020 - Three years since last bottle. Still needs a long decant. Dark cherry, anise, menthol and aromatic florals. Really nice, but still so much tannin to resolve. Getting more open, but I still know this will be better in many years. Give it at least another 4.

March 25, 2017 - Medium red color. No signs of age. First notes were cherry, raspberry and some earthy, leathery sorts of backdrop. Very good. As the wine opened (2 hour decant before first drink) it actually got more tannic and dusty and after a few hours a lot of camphor, menthol and rosemary dominated. The wine really got too hard at this point. I think this will be very good, but it is way too young to even think about drinking now. I would wait at least 5 years or more. And will go long after that. Probably get much better later.

November 6, 2016 - Checking in on the Produttori 2004 Riservas; 10/16/2016-11/7/2016: Medium red, a bit of ruby, a bit of evolution. Initially quite a claret like nose, with ripe cassis and other dark fruits, sandalwood spiciness. At first, a bit diffuse in the mouth, with pronounced acidity and quite furry tannins. Quickly gained focus and precision, then that beguiling satiny sheen you get in really good Nebbiolo, before developing an expected ethereal sweetness. Lovely wine and perhaps the surprise of the ensemble.
