December 7, 2018 - Love this wine, 06 for this day; has gained a little darker hue, is drinking phenomenally well, has lost a bit of its acid edge, but wow it’s still awesome. Best Sauternes style in Napa still and ages beautifully. Apricot, honey, candied orange. Just delicious.
July 7, 2018 - it was good
July 14, 2017 - Great dessert wine, nice aromatics, apricot flavor, not to sweet with nice balance and finish. Drinking very well and evolving.
February 16, 2016 - My dessert wine at the wine group dinner tonight at Two Chefs. Great balance, not cloying at all. Tasted of cinnamon and cloves
January 30, 2016 - Very disappointed the cork was dry and crumbled. Some of the cork found it's way into the wine as I was not able to surgically remove it. Bottle has laid on it's side the entire time I owned it. Was hoping to have the bottle in the fridge and enjoy over time, but now facing prospect of cork taint which is lame. It was good juice but should be for the cost compared to a Sauternes.
October 18, 2015 - It's evolving. The orange blossom and apricot notes are gathering steam, and the honeysuckle is puffing up. Worth watching.
May 17, 2015 - Black Cat 101 (Undisclosed Italian Location in NY, NY (The place closed in circa 2019)): First thing first- it is clearly brighter color (compared with the ’97), but what a beautiful amber/gold. Balanced on the nose, and the right ratio of honey/caramel notes that does not overpower your nose and palate. I would say it’s about the right amount of sweetness for my (very infrequent) tasting of dessert wines, and a wonderful companion to the desserts set we picked (especially worked well with the olive oil cake). Peach and apricot on the nose and palate, honey on the palate, shorter finish than the ’97 but it is far more complete/balance. Better selection for finishing of the cab lines tasting. Your opinion/preference may vary.
February 15, 2015 - In a side-by-side comparison with the 2010 Cyprès de Climens Sauternes, this is a tough one. The Dolce has a beefier nose (and this coming from a pescatarian who hasn't eaten beef in 23 years) but the Sauternes has a more complex, heartier palate. It's rough, they're both amazing but in different ways.
February 15, 2015 - Delicious, great depth, awesome nose. Not Yquem, but totally enjoyable.
September 27, 2014 - Really enjoyable dessert wine, but not worth the price.
I can get Sauternes for $23 (375ml), so I would not buy this again.
