April 23, 2016 - PnD. Deep red berries, blueberries, vanilla, and slight meatiness on the nose. Great texture. Lighter in body but with good extraction. Just fabulous.

Enjoyed in a Riedel Vinum Syrah glass at 61F.

April 20, 2012 - Even better than last time. Similar to a higher-end Chateauneuf du Pape. Lots of refined fruit towards the black end of the fruit spectrum.

March 18, 2012 - Excellent wine. Great fruit and body. Agree about the creamy texture that someone else pointed out. One of the best syrahs I have had.. I wish I had more. No heat on the finish. This wine was very well balanced.

December 22, 2011 - Outstanding syrah! This wine continues to amaze us. Rich dark fruits and a nose to die for. After tasting rather mediocre for so long, this wine is really coming into its own.

December 4, 2011 - - Garnet color and aromas of blackberry and cherry. It's balanced and has flavours of blackberry, black currant, black pepper and cherry with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a long finish - Excellent wine with distinctive flavors of fruit. Decanted for thirty minutes. Nice pepperiness which complemented our dinner of a Mediterranean spiced beef stew.

November 5, 2011 - More of an Old Word wine than most California syrahs. Could have come from northern or southern Rhone. Drinking very well now.

October 6, 2011 - Absolutely delicious bottle. This wine just gets better and better as it ages. No off flavors after the initial blow off of the alcohol. Really nice sweet, but rich tasting Syrah. Wish I had more.

August 24, 2011 - Decanted before consuming. Lovely fragrant nose of flowers and red fruit. The taste of very pleasant sweet red fruit and plums. There are still plenty of tannins and some acid for an even longer shelf life. It is drinking very nice now. There is not a lot of pepper in this wine just plenty of enjoyment.

August 5, 2011 - PnD let air for 1 hr. should have poured through the Vinturri or decanting funnel with a filter as it had a fair amount of sediment. Dense purple with a crimson rim. Big nose of dark cherry and blackberry with a touch of earth almost like a zin bit a meaty note tells that it is syrah. Medium weight with powdery tannins. Loads of ripe fruit but nice hit of acid at the end balances it out. Great with lamb chops off the grill. Faded a bit over the course of the meal. Drink up.

July 25, 2011 - This is very ripe and not overly interesting or balanced. Lots of fruit, a bit of alcohol, a fair amount of oak and some nice slightly sweet fruit. I'd rather drink other Cameron Hughes Syrah's personally versus this. 87+.
