June 11, 2017 - Fruit has faded significantly, but still rather well balanced and solid flavors.

March 3, 2017 - The cork was a crumbly mess, but the wine was great.

December 17, 2013 - This is very drinkable upon PnP. Still has quite a bit of fruit, with some mocha overtones. Hard to tell how long these will last as it is somewhat unchanged since the last bottle I drank. But with a few more left, I'm confident they'll still be fine for at least another couple years, if we don't drink them before then.

September 16, 2012 - Wine had seeped around the cork ... top of the cork was discolored as was the inside of the foil. Sadly, it was completely ruined.

January 27, 2012 - Had it again with a hunk of red meat, and it was superb. Just a big beautiful cab that's still going strong.

November 19, 2011 - Vinturi'd and decanted this time, and I'm loving it more and more. Strong on the pencil box, big fruit, a killer cab that's still going quite strong.

October 1, 2011 - quite nice. Good first opened. Getting old. Drink now. Nice tannin and structure at first--good spice and dark fruit. Not decanted, just enjoyed over dinner, and began to thin out as we finished the bottle.

August 6, 2011 - Massive. Decanted this bottle. Big bright fruit. Killer with a grilled tri-tip steak ... killer all by its lonesome. Don't think it's anywhere near the end of its happy life.

January 26, 2011 - Possible bottle flaw led me to open this one a couple years earlier than I wanted to. There was evidence of leaky cork with some wine encrusted on the neck under the foil. Thankfully, this didn't seem to significantly adversely affect the bottle.

Very light compared to Ty's other offerings, went well with my rib steak in any case. I'm on the second bottle now, so no detailed note. This wine is hitting its stride and is developing some secondary characteristics in the bottle. I wish I had another to lay down a couple more years.

December 31, 2010 - Reading the tasting notes on Cellartracker I had no idea what to expect. Some over the hill and drink up comments over a year ago made me a bit leary to sit on this. No concern- this wine is in or hitting it's stride just fine. Deep, complex nose that hints of jam and blackberry and rounder fruit flavors (more like Sonoma than Napa, maybe some good amount of Merlot in there- must research). The flavors were big and bold, with the components in the nose plus cassis, vanilla, oak, and a hint of spice. The finish was medium to long, a well rounded wine! Great accomapiment to a nice rare prime rib slab! This wine will certianly last, too.
