November 1, 2019 - In the context of CA Syrah/Pinot in the 2000's, these Copain Tous Ensemble wines really stood out for their restraint, balance and sense of terroir. Somehow in this next decade it seems like more wines are following in this mold, and this once special specimen is now competing with many other, albeit often more expensive, excellent, fresh and vibrant wines from the region. The transparency and precision of those wines render this one almost a bit obtuse, heavy and extracted. Regardless, for a $15-20 bottle of Syrah that's well over a decade old now, this has held up incredibly well. It drinks like a well made CdR that has a couple years of bottle age. The bouquet is somewhat muted plums and cherry drops, but on the palate this is full, mouth filling, and considerably deep and long lasting. The flavors are of plum, dusty blackberries and cherries. It has a creaminess to the fruit, and the structure that has melted through the years has let this maintain a freshness that was once tarry and rubbery - now smooth, semi-sweet, and full. This has lived up to its promise, and even if its simple and slightly uninteresting, it was well made so it's a vastly better wine to drink now than many of the CdP wines from '07 that were 4x the price with their lauded scores.

November 7, 2018 - Wow. Great color. Fresh. Beautiful balance with fruit and structure. Seems like it might have another 4 - 6 years in it.

March 26, 2018 - Dark cherry fruit in color with no signs of age. With decanting of 20 min, the nose is boysenberry, blackberry and a tinge of smoked meat. The fruit is fading, but still very drinkable. The wine is medium bodied with a palate of dark and cherry fruit. Finish is a bit tart with lingering tannins. I estimate this wine was showing at it's peak 2 years ago which seems to correlate with other 2015- 2016 reviews. Drink up soon.

February 4, 2016 - Drinking well now. Enjoyed more than the last bottle a couple years ago. Violet, nice nose and finish. Really enjoyed this.
