September 12, 2017 - Querciabella Supper (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Earthy and more savoury spice, touches of charcuterie with perfumed top notes as well as plummy black cherry and blackcurrant and tea leaf. In the mouth ti's juicy, wet with cherry fruit, quite spiced. Again it's a little short for me, tannins are fine.

July 1, 2017 - Reading the other tasting notes before opening, I guess proper cellaring matters. This bottle (my last) was terrific, even before it breathed for a while and gained complexity and range. Color: dark red to purple, with some cloudiness (unfiltered). So balanced and well-integrated, it is hard to pin down. So rather than my typical style of notes (plummy with a restrained nose, bright round red fruit, a little hot, with a slightly funky and tart finish, high acids and more spice than expected from a roughly 50/50 Cab/Sangiovese blend), I prefer to say this: simply delicious, complex, silky chocolate mouthfeel, feminine, and savory. Has evolved nicely, with fruit still strong, but maybe at its peak (though it could stay here a while) and unlikely to gain much from more time in the cellar. Good to go,

February 10, 2017 - Tasted blind. Poured into decanter and drank after 3 hours of air. Bottle had not been put upright prior to session!
Appearance initially murky and cloudy but sediments settled in decanter afterwards and clarity improved. Deep intensity, garnet colour. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, slight barnyard, then lots of earth, soy sauce, mushrooms, whiff of grilled herbs. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sour red cherries, black cherries, black plums, soy sauce, leather, earth, mushrooms. Medium+ finish.
Good quality. Tastes much older than it is though. I guessed a SuperTuscan correctly but I was thinking late 80s or early 90s?!!
Tertiary notes dominant here, with the fruit barely hanging on, me having to concentrate rather hard to get them.
Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. -
