January 19, 2020 - Dark garnet. Tertiary nose. Same kirsch palate as recent bottles although this time without discernible prickliness. Good length and balance.

My last bottle of 11. I am not a fan of the house style for their lower end bottlings. It seems to me they push the extractions too far for the quality of fruit present.

July 17, 2019 - Notes from memory. This was good but the alcohol is definitely perceptible, albeit reasonably well covered by ripe fruit. Not particularly complex and although enjoyable and good value I am finding more and more that I need to only look to the lower end Janasse bottlings (if at all) during cooler vintages as they seem to get hotter on my palate over tiime.

October 28, 2018 - Dark garnet, bricking rim, suspended sediment. Tawny port style bouquet. Round entry, sweet cough drop cherry compote with some fine tannins and a slightly prickly alcohol note on the final. Enjoyable but this is deep into tertiary development and doesn't offer much in terms of refreshment.

If your tastes run to kirsch and "big reds" pair this with a bbq ribeye and you will be happy. For myself I found it enjoyable but increasingly only find myself wanting to flirt with this style of wine rather than love it. For what it is and the price it's solid and good value. Wish now I'd drunk a few more of my stash on the fruit over the first four years or so than waiting for this stage.

May 20, 2018 - Still drinking great. Definitely in it's peak window. It didn't find it "too big" or intolerable as some recent notes suggest, but then I like big wines. I cannot lie.

March 7, 2018 - Just a massive Côte du Rhône. Initially it almost got dumped as it was overly swampy and offensively medicinal (seemed 3-4 years into full decline). Fortunately it pulled itself together after an hour plus in the bottle. Essentially this drinks like and has the power of a 15+ year old high quality Châteauneuf du Pape. Not for everyone as this pushes extraction to the next level with cherry cough syrup, espresso liqueur, glycerin, vanilla bean, and of course plenty of earthy underbrush. Likely still a year into decline as the taste and structure is fleeting. Would not want much more than a glass.
