July 13, 2017 - Another example of how the reviews at the time were overly pessimistic about the 1998s. This is beautiful intense rich and balanced a decade past it's "drink by". Nice plum and bing cherry. Toasty herbs on the finish. The Duckhorn Howell Mtb has always been their best.

December 29, 2007 - Decanted this bottle, it was unbalanced to start. The color was perfect getting the brown edges in the glass. After 30 minutes it opened up and had some good fruit flavors and pepper. A "B" wine.
