June 22, 2020 - Richly fruited with an array of smoky black fruits and plenty of meaty spice. Clearly California but with restraint and complexity that balances the sweetness of fruit. Holding on just fine and in no rush.

June 15, 2018 - Soimeone wrote that they believe in the Cardiac Hill terroir (which is the Jemrose Syrah vineyard) and this is the proof. While this wine is made in a riper style than the Jemrose di Jemrose wines I've had, it's still savory, meaty, and peppery, if a bit more black olive than green, and more blackberry than sloes. But really tasty, with length, complexity, etc. At 10+ years, in its prime--why drink Cali wines so young and encourage winemaking that settles for short term gratification over the wonder of reasonably aged (I'm not talking dried tomato leaf here) wine that tells the story of its years in bottle? Glad I scoured a website or two for these and a few other gems (yeah, I did that) with a little age on them.

December 16, 2015 - Beautiful dark purple. Opens with olive and white pepper. Floral after being open a while.
Boysenberry and more olive. Maybe another berry of some sort. Possibly a cranberry with the acidity. Long finish. Supple tannin. Perfect now. Don't wait any longer.

May 23, 2014 - Inky, black color with a purple rim. The nose is classic Northern Rhone - smoke, olives, peppercorns, smoked meats, lavender, and plum. On the palate, there is explosive smoke, olives, smoked meat, lavender, plum, and wintergreen. There is excellent acidity in this medium-bodied wine with fuzzy tannins pulling the package together. The finish is long with smoke, plums, olives, and wintergreen. Overall, this is a complex wine that provides both intellectual and perceptual pleasure.

December 17, 2012 - Good times. Spicy syrah. Posting this days too late.
