February 22, 2013 - Golden colour in the glass. Beautiful nose of petrol and tropical fruit. A fair bit of ripe fruit on the palate, with nice acidity to compliment the RS. Very fresh for an old Riesling.

August 10, 2012 - Cork was completely saturated from the bottom to 2/3 of the way up and the top 1/4 contained green mold-ish growth...all that to say the wine was still wonderful with loads of resinous fruit and mouth watering acidity. Certainly a wine to enjoy now versus holding on to it any longer.

November 19, 2011 - Second time around with this Rheingau. Brilliant and bright in the glass. Lemon & cream on the nose. Still simple, but definitely inviting. Smooth, almost oily texture. Loads of acidic balance on this bottle, making it come off as just barely off-dry. Mushroom, stone, lemon brulee. This has a few years left in it if you like a more earthy, funky Riesling. Tasty stuff!

November 4, 2011 - Robe jaune or d'un bel éclat. Un nez principalement sur le kerosen et le miel, un peu unidimensionnel. En bouche, très bel équilibre entre le sucre résiduel et l'acidité vive. Belle longueur et équilibre intéressant pour un vin de ce prix.

October 5, 2011 - Yellow gold; lemon drops, peaches, honeysuckle; off-dry, pineapple, lemon-lime, slightly oily, light-medium body, citrusy acidity, lingering finish.
Lush, ripe fruit with lemony acidity and an intriguing slight bitterness on the finish. This may age surprisingly well due to its excellent balance. Enjoyed with thai shrimp but would be lovely just as a sipper.

July 27, 2011 - Brilliant bright yellow. A great value German Riesling, even if it is from the less famed Rheingau. While the nose is simple (sweet lemon, pineapple), this is easy to drink & quite quenching. Off-dry, medium body & acidity. Smooth & rich. I'd let the temperature on this stay a touch warmer, as it built some earthy & stony mineral complexities as it sat open. Drinks with surprising youth for a '98.

June 14, 2011 - Deep yellow-gold colour. Beeswax, cardamom, cinnamon, earth, lemondrop, apricot and mint nose. Medium-bodied, rounded and rich palate; medium-sweet with good acidity and a long, scorched, lemony finish.
    4.5/5
