September 4, 2013 - This has aged marvelously. Aerate to decanter. Color dark ruby, no sign of bricking. Bouquet of strawberries, focused red cherries, some leafy greens, tea leaves, and sticks. More open on the nose and palate than a few years ago, but still linear with lots of focused cherries brightened by underlying minerals and a healthy dose of earth and veggie. Will likely drink the last bottle within a year.

March 28, 2009 - Wow, what a great Cab Franc. Earthy and dry with a great finish. Cherry, tobacco and some cocoa on the palate and a tart berry nose.

December 26, 2008 - Day 3 from bottle (no vacuum!) and this has finally opened up nicely. On the nose we now have significant tobacco, earth, and spice, with berry and green vegetables underneath. Significantly more complexity on the palate, with minerals and tobacco providing a foundation for the fruit previously described, while the acid has dropped down a couple notches and the structure has softened. The finish is still surprisingly long, and joined by earth and truffle. Trusting that the last three days of air in the decanter is an approximation of where this is headed with age, this does seem to have excellent potential.

December 24, 2008 - GV's "sleeper pick of 2008", now sold out. Decant and trickle pour. Color dark ruby, medium-light body, clear. A nice nose of strawberry and green cruciferous (e.g., brussel sprout). On the slurp we have a concentrated entry of cranberry and berries along with green veggie such as celery. Just when you think the flavors are trailing off, this kicks into overdrive with intense sour cherries in a lengthy finish of about 25-30 seconds. Smooth mouthfeel, medium-high acid. Tannins are smooth, but also make themselves known at a significant teeth-hugging level. Overall seems well put together and is drinkable, but for my taste is very young and primary now. Loosely capped the decanter with the remaining 2/3 bottle. Day 2: This wine is hardly fazed. The bouquet is the same. The palate is a little more open-knit, but it feels like much of its potential is still to be realized. Let's see what another day of air brings. Will open the next bottle in 3-4 years.
