December 7, 2023 - quite amazed with this second wine of Figeac, that after all these years can maintain such balance and finesse, with primary secondary and tertiary notes. alcohol 13%. PnP, great QPR at US60 a bottle. don't miss it, drink now. 50CS 30CF 20ML, per info from Figeac.

May 1, 2020 - A very good wine, still pretty young. Not as extracted as I'm used to from this vintage.

January 2, 2020 - Sweet, ‘pretty’, sensual fruit that beguiles you. Remarkably, this STILL needs time to be coaxed into form! Develops for hours in the glass. The bouquet of cedar-wrapped, glowing fruit emerges right away, but the flavor interest, body and texture takes its time. Be sure to uncork 2-3 hours ahead, or decant, in order to get the creaminess of this terrific vintage.

October 10, 2016 - Note: I use a rating scale for which 85 represents a very good wine.

Got to give this the magical 90. Excellent Bordeaux -- perfect balance in all regards. Opened and let it breathe for 1 hour, then decanted for serving -- seemed pretty good to go from the outset.
    A pleasure.

(FIGEAC Grange Neuve) 2000 Bordeaux Dear Friends, 2000 Bordeaux from one of the region's most famous Chateau for this price? Yes. This would have qualified (and still does) as one of the top bargains of the year but I was unable to acquire sufficient quantity to make a giant ruckus - so, I will try to be brief. Here's a lovely little St. Emilion (the second wine of Figeac) that is just now coming into its own. For a pittance of a price, you get Cabernet Franc character in spades (probably too much for some) and a cellar-aged example of 2000 Bordeaux at a tariff that is very easy to live with. The Manoncourt family places a great deal of emphasis on this wine (and pride) - one they feel emulates the style of Cheval Blanc even more than Figeac's 1st wine. Elegant, supple and nearing peak, the Grange Neuve will not change the world but it is eminently satisfying with a variety of grilled and braised fare. Highly aromatic and delightfully medium in weight, this is what many of you seek in Bordeaux without the large-scale extract or stuffing of a Napa-esque example. In addition, it is only 12.5-13.0% alcohol. This wine would be excellent with spring lamb chops on the grill or with steak frites - it is the perfect accompaniment rather than the meal itself. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price with impeccable provenance. 2000 La Grange Neuve de Figeac St. Emilion Grand Cru Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Bord7558
